Assistant Accountant

Alexander Daniels are currently recruiting for a confident and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Bilston-based client on a full-time, permanent basis. As an operationally focused Assistant Accountant, you will collaborate closely with the Financial Controller and other members of the finance team and wider company. Your role will involve identifying areas for improvement, implementing changes, and positively impacting the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyse month-end results, highlighting variances against the budget for presentation to the Financial Controller
• Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accurate reporting
• Balance sheet reconciliations, including Bank/Intercompany/PAYE/CIS reconciliations
• Month end close
• Monthly overhead costs comparison to budget posting accruals and prepayments
• Generate and post sales invoices
• Allocate cash received to the sales ledger, ensuring proper reconciliation
• Produce debtor and creditor reports
• Prepare a weekly summary of bank receipts/payments by type for review by the Financial Controller.

The ideal candidate will be a part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) Accountant with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse large data sets and report down to a transactional level. You must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc. and be proficient with ERP systems.
