Job Description

Financial Controller required to join a growing construction and civil engineering business in Wolverhampton.

The Financial Controller will be reporting into the MD and will be responsible for financial reporting & controls and managing the relationships with external parties.

The Financial Controllers duties will include:

  • Production of management accounts and analysis to support the management team with general understanding and decision making
  • Prepare financial analysis to support key business decisions such as projects & capex
  • Preparation of business plan, budget and forecasts
  • Completion of monthly WIP schedules for bank funding
  • Preparation of annual financial statements in line with UKGAAP
  • Managing the day-to-day cash position, together with short term and longer term cash forecasting for the business
  • Doing regular balance sheet audits/checks to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Lead continuous improvements on key systems
  • Ensuring processes and procedures are up to date, adhered to and fit for purpose
  • Authorisation of payments (payroll/subcon/purchase ledger)
  • Ensuring full HMRC compliance
  • Manage the annual audit, planning preparation for the audit and liaising with the auditors as required
  • Review and manage VAT and CIS returns for accuracy, before submission
  • Additional ad-hoc work

The successful Financial Controller will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ ACCA/ ACMA or equivalent) with significant experience at Financial Controller level. You will ideally have worked within the construction or civil engineering sector.
Salary will be circa £60,000 to £70,000 + car allowance + bonus + pension + 25 days holiday + bank holidays
