Job Description

Alexander Daniels have been engaged by a market leading business in Shrewsbury to help them recruit and experienced European Finance Manager. Salary on offer is circa £75,000 + 10% Bonus + Pension + 33 days holidays (including bank holidays) + hybrid working

Summary of the European Finance Manager role:
As a key member of the European Operations Management team, the European Finance Manager is responsible for the Finance Function for the Manufacturing Operations in Europe, located in Shrewsbury. Led by this role, the Finance Team will significantly contribute to strong Operational and Profit performance through robust Financial Planning and Reporting underpinned by disciplined Transactional Processing, Compliance and Controls.

European Finance Managers responsibilities will include:
Operations Support

  • Actively participate as a key member of the European Operations management team
  • Maintain and improve a Standard Costing System to provide data and analysis on product and process costs.
  • Support Baseline Profit Improvement by tracking and reporting initiatives and actions and challenging for improvement.
  • Oversight of daily, weekly, and monthly Operational KPI reporting
  • Provide financial analysis to support Capital Investment decisions.

Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Management of monthly reporting of actual Profit and Loss and Balance sheet performance to tight deadlines
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all accounting policies.
  • Principal contact for Internal and External Audit
  • Oversight of statutory and HMRC reporting requirements
  • Management of Cash and treasury management
  • Responsible for UK and Ireland Payroll & Expenses

Financial Analysis and Planning

  • Responsible for the preparation of a monthly European Operations financial forecast and detailed understanding of variances to actual performance, headwinds, tailwinds, and future Baseline Profit Improvement opportunities
  • Preparation and review of the European Operations Annual Business plan
  • Preparation and review of the weekly Sales and OP Business Condition Report
  • Tracking and reporting of Profit Improvement initiatives and performance

Compliance and Controls

  • Responsible for Trade Compliance for European Operations. Ensuring that all trade is conducted ethically and in accordance with all policies, statutory requirements, and international law.
  • Entry Level Controls – Oversight of European Operations internal controls to ensure compliance with all Policy, statutory requirements and to minimise business risk.

Transaction Processing

  • Responsible for the Financial Transaction processing team including invoice processing and payment, cash collection and allocation.

Staff management and development

  • Demonstrate leadership and management with the Finance team, in UK and Romania.
  • For all team members, ensure appropriate induction process, probationary period activities and reviews, formal PDR process, informal development discussions.

The successful European Finance Manager will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Professional Accounting Qualification, (ACA/ CIMA/ ACCA)
  • Financial experience, 5 years plus, in the manufacturing sector
  • Experience in leading a Finance Function
  • Experience of working in a multinational company desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of lean manufacturing methodology and process desirable
  • Oracle ERP experience
  • Strong leader and influencer
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills to all levels
  • Will be able to instil trust and drives results
