Job Description

Alexander Daniels are currently recruiting for a Junior Commercial Finance Analyst on behalf of a large and growing retail organisation based in Burton-on-Trent on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Commercial Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for supporting the Commercial Finance team & stakeholders with decision-making by producing reports and analysis on various elements of activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Weekly reporting on company performance and KPIs for the Exec, Leadership team and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare weekly reports on costs, providing insight to challenge internal stakeholders where necessary.
  • Support the month end close process.
  • Preparation of general ledger journals.
  • Completion of various month end reporting dashboards & resolving any queries.
  • Monitoring ROI vs budget.
  • Supporting the reporting of financial performance and undertaking adhoc analysis when required.
  • Supporting with the preparation of budgets and forecasts where necessary.
  • Using a continuous improvement mindset, improve existing KPI reporting and develop new tools to improve efficiency and quality of information to enable fully informed decision making.
  • Provide analysis and insight on adhoc queries and projects supporting the Finance team and internal stakeholders in delivering the company’s strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will be AAT Qualified or hold a relevant Bachelor’s Degree and be keen to pursue their ACCA or CIMA studies imminently. You must have at least 2 years of experience working in a fast-paced finance department with strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs as a minimum) and an analytical mind. Previous experience using Power BI or SQL would be an advantage.
