Alexander Daniels Limited are working with a growing, owner managed group of very successful SME businesses who are looking to appoint an experienced Part Time Finance Director.

Our client is a vibrant successful group of SME businesses who are experiencing growth and a period of change and are hence recruiting for a Part Time Finance Director. Reporting to a passionate CEO, this organisation is striving to make a real difference to the customers they help. Working in a variety of growing and expanding sectors this is a great opportunity. This organisation is based in the heart of the Second City.

Your new role.

  • Form a close working relationship with the CEO and other senior managers within the business and will be a trusted advisor to the CEO
  • As the Part Time Finance Director, you will set the strategy and look to build a new finance team.
  • Implement structure, set budgets, controls and ensure year end is completed, you will manage audit, systems and payroll, cashflow and support the financials ‘on customer contracts.
  • Manage expenditure, credit, payroll and investments
  • Advise managers on financial policy and control, such as the costs and benefits of a particular project
  • Deal with and advise on tax issues, ensuring compliance with tax legislation

  • Negotiate business terms with associated organisations such as suppliers, Banks and Auditors
  • Our client will be exploring VC funding in the not-so-distant future and will need the Finance Director to lead this process. Providing assurance and information to funders, including PE houses and VC funds as and when required.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • You will be an experienced qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) SME Finance Director who can demonstrate you are able to set up a finance function, work with the board, but also roll up your sleeves and help with the day to day accounting.
  • Experience of raising investment and dealing with funders, including PE houses and VC funds.
  • You will have strong people management skills, be able to build relationships and create strong process processes.
  • Cashflow, budgeting and managing internal and external stakeholders are key.
  • A methodical, realistic approach and strong problem-solving skills to overcome financial anomalies.
  • A good level of computer literacy, including knowledge of relevant software applications, such as accounting packages
  • Sound business acumen to effectively support and guide strategic business decisions
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret data and make accurate conclusions
