This role is fully office-based, so you’ll need to prefer working in an office.

Due to the ambitious growth plans of the business, and the ongoing transformation of the finance department, we are seeking a dynamic individual able to thrive in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment. You’ll be a proactive accountant, ideally trained in a small/medium-sized accountancy practice, looking to move into industry.

As the Group Finance Manager, you’ll primarily be responsible for:

• Overseeing monthly reporting, including consolidation of monthly financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliations
• Review of monthly management accounts
• Direct line management of a team of 10
• Driving continuous improvement in the department, and supporting ongoing financial performance projects
• Financial business partnering a handful of stakeholders across purchasing and operations
• Production of annual statutory accounts for each entity and group financial statements
• Taking the group through external audit and dealing with auditors’ queries
• Ensuring smooth operation of monthly payroll procedures (controlled by two payrollers)
• Overseeing stock reporting across the four supermarkets
• Reconciliations of intercompany transactions and accounting on intercompany loans
• Financial data analysis and problem solving to generate ideas on areas for improvement and solutions
• Supporting the Group FD in other areas, including FP&A and business planning

Our Ideal Candidate:

• A qualified accountant, preferably ACA, CA or ACCA
• Trained within an accountancy practice (within accounts, not just audit)
• Experienced within SME businesses (advantageous, not essential)
• Up to date knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
• Strong user of Excel and accounting systems
