Group Head of Finance

Alexander Daniels are currently recruiting for an experienced finance leader to take ownership of the finance function for a well-established retail business in Leicestershire. This is a senior role with responsibility for financial governance, reporting accuracy, and providing strategic insight to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts and ensure timely, accurate reporting
• Oversee the year-end audit process and maintain compliance with statutory requirements
• Manage budgeting and cost control, monitor variances, and implement corrective actions
• Conduct cost reviews with senior stakeholders to drive efficiency and profitability
• Lead and develop a team covering Accounts Payable, Management Accounts, and Stock Control
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, supporting strategic decision-making

What We’re Looking For

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
• Proven experience in a senior finance role (Financial Controller or Head of Finance)
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and financial controls
• Advanced Excel and ERP system skills
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities
• Commercially astute with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
• Retail sector experience is desirable but not essential
