Job Description

Alexander Daniels are recruiting for a Management Accountant who has previous experience in property or housing associations for a business based in Birmingham. This is a rounded role which will give you great exposure to the business but also future career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Analyse variances against budgets and previous periods, offering insightful commentary and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Assist in creating annual budgets and periodic forecasts, collaborating with various departments to understand financial needs and objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support business decisions, including cost analysis, pricing strategies, and investment evaluations.
  • Provide financial insights to guide the development of new projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Enhance financial controls and processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial advice and support.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes, increasing efficiency and supporting the business’s growth.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of financial management software and tools.
  • Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring tasks are effectively delegated and completed, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Mentor and coach team members to support their professional growth and development.

Essential skills required:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in a management accounting role.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with a solid understanding of financial reporting standards and regulations.
  • Advanced Excel skills and Xero
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide clear recommendations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.
