FINANCE DIRECTOR required to join a growing business in Derby initially on a 6 month contract

Alexander Daniels have been engaged by a growing business in Derby. Our client is a fast moving, fast growing entrepreneurial business to help recruit and experienced Finance Director. The Finance Director will work closely with the board of directors and will be someone who thrives in a fast paced environment. The Finance Director will ensure the business continues to move forward, driving the right measures and KPIS to help deliver the ambition and focus on making the finance department an increasingly strong department.

Reporting into the Managing Director the Finance Director’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, motivating and developing the Finance team, ensure that they are focused on delivering the correct tasks and KPIs and that there is good delegation of work particularly between this role, the Finance Controller and Analyst
  • Proactively monitor the business performance to ensure patterns and issues are clearly highlighted early, working effectively with other departments to drive improvements.
  • Own the business planning and forecasting cycle
  • Ensure that the right KPIS are in place to track progress to deliver the year and highlight and driving profit improvements through growth and cost reduction and control.
  • A key member of the board, driving analysis, modelling, advice and direction to drive strategic planning and thinking.
  • Ensure good summary information is provided.
  • Ensure the monthly management pack is prepared in a timely manner with easy to understand variance analysis covering margin/channel/carriage and cashflow.
  • Deliver the annual cash flow plan and deal with all cash related matters (bank, hedging)
  • Drive process improvement within the department, with increased automation and a far more paperless function
  • Ensure key accounting tasks (payroll, tax, vat etc) are delivered effectively
  • Ensure the business is forward looking, planning for the future and that all the financial implications are modelled and clear to the board
  • Developing and maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions and reconciliations

The successful Finance Director will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • ACA, ACCA, ACMA Qualified Accountant with at least 5 years’ experience at a senior finance level
  • Available immediately or short notice
  • Hands on and able to take on many tasks themselves, excellent organisation skills
  • High level of experience of working with stock and high volumes of transactions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced growing business with excellent organisational skills to meet deadlines and manage a high level of tasks
  • Strong people management skills with experience of managing similar sized teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills able to create good relationships to get buy in and drive improvement across the business
  • Strong and rounded commercial and business awareness skills
  • Excellent analytical, IT, Excel and modelling skills.
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent systems experience and high level ability to pick up the processes within system with experience of developing reporting and improving processes

What is on offer for the successful Finance Director?

  • Salary will be between £70,000 to £85,000 (dependant on experience)
  • Potential to join on a day rate between £350 to £450 per day
  • Full benefit package available upon on request.
