Job Description

Alexander Daniels are currently recruiting for an Interim Finance Manager for an initial 3-6 months contract with a view to starting immediately, working for a well-established and family-owned business based in Wolverhampton on a full-time basis. Reporting into the General Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company’s objectives during this interim period. The core focus of this role is to ensure robust day-to-day financial operations and proactive working capital forecasting and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction and revenue enhancement to optimize financial performance.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities as necessary.
  • Cashflow management and strategies identifying opportunities for improvment.
  • Monitor financial markets and economic trends to anticipate potential risks and opportunities.
  • Implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with risk management policies.
  • Communicate financial performance, forecasts, and strategic initiatives effectively to internal stakeholders, including senior management and department heads.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, such as shareholders, lenders, and suppliers, to maintain positive relationships and address queries proactively and in a timely manner.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop finance staff to enhance their skills and capabilities.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance, or be well on their way to achieving their recognised qualification (ACCA or CIMA) although candidates who are Qualified by Experience will also be considered. You must have proven experience as an Accountant ideally within the wholesale or distribution industry with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting and robust cashflow management and reporting skills.

The hours of work are flexible but 40 hours per week to be worked between Monday to Friday. There is on-site parking with bonus schemes and pension available. This is an initial interim position therefore only candidates available immedidately (max 1 week) will be considered.
