Finance Director

Finance Director required for a superb hypergrowth SME service-based business. This company is based in central Birmingham, and has enjoyed success over the last decade in advancing new product offerings and expanding rapidly into new markets. Led by an incredibly knowledgeable CEO, the business has cultivated an exceptional culture and is now looking to bring in its first full-time Finance Director to sophisticate the finance function.

There are no immediate plans to transact, but this privately-held business could realistically exit into private equity in the foreseeable – as such transaction experience is advantageous (but not essential), and an LTIP plan can be put in place.

As the Finance Director, you will be responsible for:

• Oversight of the finance function, including development of the finance team and providing support to the more junior members of the team
• Working alongside the senior leadership team and directors to develop business plans
• Implementation of strong financial controls and development of new reporting suites, making use of the ERP and business intelligence to provide guidance beyond the finance department
• Acting as the finance liaison in board meeting, development of board reports and enactment of strategy from board
• Complete management of FP&A, including annual budget setting, cash flow forecasting/reforecasting and management of working capital
• Smooth running of the year end reporting process, and liaison with external auditors
• Supporting the month end process with management reporting and financial accounting, building a team and reporting suite around you that you can delegate to
• Financial modelling and due diligence to support potential acquisitions and business launches into new areas
• Ongoing development of new revenue streams, working with operations to support their requirements
• Acting as a strong right-hand number two to the CEO, able to advise and guide across all manners relating to the business
• Project work as and when it arises, including implementation of new softwares and business case analysis
• Any other typical duties associated with the financial number one position

This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced Finance Director, though a very strong Head of Finance or Senior Financial Controller will be considered if they have relevant experience.

About you
It is essential that you are a chartered accountant (ACA, CA or ACCA) or ACMA qualified for this position. The ideal profile for the Finance Director will be:

• experienced within an SME environment
• previously exposed to M&A work, either through acquisition or company transaction
• working currently as a number one in finance
• able to commute to Birmingham – this position is office-based at least 3 days/week
• controls-focused, able to implement and maintain strong governance
• a highly effective business partner able to act as part of the SMT
