Alexander Daniels is pleased to be working with a leading manufacturing organisation in Telford who are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join the senior leadership team.

Our client is a family owned, leading European full-service supplier of materials within its sector. Our client has five production plants throughout Europe and is represented around the world by a strong network of sales offices. The site in Telford has a blue-chip customer base in consumer and industrial markets including international brands and household names.

Job Purpose
The Financial Controller will report directly to the Managing Director and participate as a key member of the UK senior management team. The Financial Controller will lead the Finance, Accounting & IT activities of the UK company along with the UK Finance & local IT team. The Financial Controller will also develop effective working relationships with relevant internal functions (operations, sales, supply chain, technical, etc), to ensure business objectives are met. You will be responsible for
establishing, liaising with, and developing, relationships with external organisations and advisors.

So, what is on offer for the successful Financial Controller?

  • Salary Package
  • Basic between £60,000 to £70,000 dependant on experience
  • Fully expensed company car or £12,000 salary supplement in lieu.
  • Up to 15% of base salary subject to attainment of performance objectives.

The Financial Controllers responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Management accounting
  • Financial analysis and reporting
  • Forecasting, budgeting and strategic planning
  • Working capital and cash management (including customer credit management)
  • Standard costing and efficiency analysis
  • Investment appraisals
  • Treasury, ForEx, banking and financing
  • Audit, taxation and statutory reporting
  • Payroll, pensions and employee benefits
  • Commercial pricing and tender appraisals
  • Procurement contract and proposal appraisals
  • Company secretarial and regulatory compliance
  • Occasional UK and international travel

What are we looking for?
The successful Financial Controller will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • We require a self-motivated and highly driven ACMA/ACA/ACCA qualified individual, possessing a broad range of finance experience in a manufacturing business (minimum 5 years) to take on this all-encompassing, challenging and rewarding role.
  • You will have proven leadership experience in a manufacturing finance role.
  • Sound commercial and financial acumen is required, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to network and develop relationships at all levels.
  • Sound IT skills are also required. Advanced Excel, MS Office & SAP ERP.
  • A creative and innovative approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, at all levels both verbally and in writing, with excellent presentational and listening skills.
  • The credibility to influence “customers” and colleagues at all levels.
  • A pro-active and creative approach to your tasks and responsibilities.
