The Role:
The Merlin Partnership is seeking an exceptional Financial Director to lead the UK-based team while collaborating closely with stakeholders in both the US and UK. Working closely with the CEO the Financial Director will oversee the UK-based team and manage tax, audit, and legal stakeholders in both the UK and US. The successful candidate will need solid background at Finance Director level in a fast-paced business, with the experience of handling M&A work and raising Private Equity Funding to fuel growth.

The Finance Directors duties & responsibilities will include:

• As Finance Director, you’ll be reporting to the Shareholders and collaborating with key stakeholders at board level.
• Directly responsible for the day-to-day leadership, training & development of a small accounts team.
• Responsible for managing both the strategic and transactional finance function with multi-currency exposure.
• As number 2 in the business, work closely with all functions especially Supply Chain.
• Ensuring that the finance team is equipped to handle rapid growth across multiple territories.
• Strategic planning, conducting in-depth analysis and producing board reports.
• Creating accurate cashflow forecasts, highlighting any issues with the board & shareholders.
• Working closely with department heads to prepare accurate annual budgeting and financial forecasting prior to presentation for approval.
• Identifying key areas of cost efficiencies to improve margins and profitability.
• Managing and leveraging key banking relationships.
• Reviewing and enhancing internal finance and operational processes.

The Successful Finance Director will have the following:

• Finance Director experience, or possibly a very strong number 2 in a larger business ready for the next level, ideally within a manufacturing / FMCG business.
• Qualified to ACA / ACCA / ACMA.
• Demonstrable experience of both strategic & transactional leadership of the finance function, with key expertise around strategic planning, forecasting, budgets and ideally M&A and Funding.
• Strong experience with IT Systems is essential, system migration experience would a significant advantage.
• A highly professional communicator with a record of driving change in a growth business
• Experience of operating in a multi-currency environment would be an advantage.
