Financial Accountant

Alexander Daniels are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant on behalf of a manufacturing business based in Derby on a full-time, permanent basis. Working as part of a small and friendly team, you will support the Finance Director with VAT and statutory accounts preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. VAT Management:

   • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of VAT returns.
   • Monitor and implement changes in VAT legislation to ensure compliance.
   • Provide advice on VAT-related matters to internal stakeholders.

2. Bank Reconciliations:

   • Conduct regular bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
   • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
   • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure accuracy in financial transactions.

3. Accruals and Prepayments:

   • Oversee the preparation and posting of accruals and prepayments.
   • Work closely with budget holders to ensure accurate forecasting.
   • Monitor and analyse actual vs. budgeted expenses.

4. Statutory Accounts:

   • Support with the preparation of statutory financial statements.
   • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
   • Collaborate with auditors during the audit process.

The ideal candidate will hold either an AAT qualification or a degree in Accounting & Finance (or related field) with a view to studying towards a professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or equivalent. You must have proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing industry, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
