Job Description

Alexander Daniels are working with a growing SME. The business is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager who can take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while providing commercial financial support to the leadership team.

You will be responsible for the effective management of the finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls and supporting business decision-making. This is a broad role suited to an experienced finance professional who is comfortable operating in a standalone or small-team environment. This role requires you to be onsite 5 days a week. (Part time hours will be considered)

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Production of cash flow forecasts and financial reports.
  • Budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Variance analysis and reporting to management.
  • Supporting strategic business planning and decision-making.
  • Management of the purchase and sales ledgers.
  • Credit control and debtor management.
  • Supplier payments and cash management.
  • Maintenance of accurate financial records
  • Daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Monitoring cash balances and working capital.
  • Management of banking relationships and payment processes.
  • Oversight of stock accounting processes.
  • Monitoring stock valuation and inventory movements.
  • Supporting stock counts and reconciliation activities.
  • Working with operational teams to improve inventory accuracy.
  • VAT returns and statutory reporting.
  • Liaison with external accountants and auditors.
  • Maintaining financial controls and company policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.

Essential

  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager or senior finance position within an SME environment.
  • Strong management accounting experience.
  • Experience managing ledgers and reconciliations.
  • Background in stock or inventory-based businesses.
  • Excellent Excel and financial systems skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational ability.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function.

Desirable

  • ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified/part-qualified. QBE will also be considered
  • Experience implementing financial processes and controls.
  • Experience supporting business growth and operational improvement initiatives
  • Commercially minded and proactive.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to be involved in all aspects of finance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across the business.
  • Problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
