Alexander Daniels are recruiting for a Finance Business Partner to join a well-established and growing organisation in Cannock. The business operates across UK and international markets and has demonstrated strong performance and continued growth. This role is perfect for a Management Accountant/Assistant Accountant who is looking for that step up.

This role reports directly to the Head of Finance / Finance Director and plays a key part in delivering accurate financial information to support commercial decision-making, cost control, and strategic planning.

The Role

As Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for the integrity of financial reporting, cost management, and budgeting and forecasting processes. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate margin analysis by product and customer, while overseeing day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Processing

  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Oversee daily and weekly processing of sales, purchases, cash, and journals
  • Supervise an Assistant Accountant
  • Review and ensure accuracy of cost classification
  • Review and challenge standard costs and update where appropriate
  • Process payments and oversee outsourced payroll
  • Prepare VAT returns and ensure HMRC submissions are accurate and timely

Control & Compliance

  • Maintain the general ledger and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform monthly inventory reconciliations and landed cost analysis
  • Monitor committed costs linked to purchase orders
  • Support periodic stocktakes
  • Ensure finance systems are stable, compliant, and fit for purpose

Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Conduct variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods
  • Produce margin reporting by product and customer
  • Prepare weekly order intake and monthly sales order book reporting
  • Support board pack preparation
  • Assist with P&L budgeting, cashflow forecasting, and currency planning
  • Support treasury activity and liaison with finance providers

Key Relationships

  • Reporting directly to the Head of Finance / Finance Director
  • Line management responsibility for an Assistant Accountant
  • Active participation in the senior leadership team, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders

Skills & Experience Required

  • Part-qualified professional accounting qualification (minimum)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in general or cost accounting
  • Strong double-entry accounting knowledge
  • Manufacturing or operational finance experience advantageous
  • Experience with Sage Line 50 preferred
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
  • Experience preparing monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow reporting
