Job Description

Alexander Daniels are working with a high-growth, private equity-backed consumer business to appoint a Group Financial Controller in a pivotal, senior leadership role. This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-scaling organisation at a critical point in its journey, with a clear mandate to transform the finance function into a best-in-class, value-driving operation ahead of a future exit event.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of group financial control, reporting, and transformation. You will play a central role in building a high-performing finance function that delivers both operational excellence and strategic insight.

This role combines technical depth, team leadership, and commercial impact, offering significant exposure to senior stakeholders and investors.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Lead the production of high-quality monthly management accounts, board packs, and statutory reporting
  • Own group consolidation across multiple entities and currencies
  • Ensure a robust control environment, including balance sheet integrity and audit readiness
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and external stakeholders
  • Oversee tax compliance, including corporation tax and VAT

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a growing finance team
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, pace, and continuous improvement
  • Align the function with private equity standards of reporting and discipline

Strategic Value Creation

  • Partner with senior leadership to drive performance insights and commercial decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, working capital, and cash flow
  • Support value creation initiatives aligned to the wider growth strategy

Finance Transformation

  • Lead the implementation of a new cloud-based finance system, replacing legacy platforms
  • Drive automation, process improvement, and scalability across finance operations
  • Improve data quality, reporting speed, and integration with wider business systems

About You

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role
  • Background in a fast-paced, scaling environment (ideally retail, leisure, or PE-backed)
  • Strong technical accounting expertise combined with commercial acumen
  • Track record of improving finance processes and implementing systems
  • Confident leader with the ability to influence at senior level
