Internal Audit Manager

This is a standout opportunity for an Internal Audit Manager or an ambitious Assistant Manager ready to step up, take on more responsibility, and progress quickly with structured support.

You’ll join a business experiencing consistent year‑on‑year growth, winning clients from national firms, and investing heavily in its people‑first culture. From day one, you’ll be trusted, empowered and encouraged to shape the success of the West Midlands internal audit offering.

Working with a varied portfolio across the public sector, not‑for‑profit and corporate environments, you’ll deliver high‑quality internal audit work while also advising clients on best practice, risk management and operational improvement.

The Role

You will play a key part in the development and delivery of the internal audit function, including:

• Leading, planning and delivering a broad range of internal audit engagements
• Reporting directly to the Internal Audit Director and supporting the growth of the Birmingham office
• Coaching, mentoring and developing junior team members into strong risk and control specialists
• Supporting recruitment activity as the team expands
• Managing budgets, agreeing fees and ensuring assignments run smoothly
• Building strong client relationships and delivering a high‑quality, value‑adding service
• Contributing to business development activity across your sectors
• Providing clients with practical advice and sector best practice beyond core audit essentials

What You’ll Bring

• CIA/ACA (or equivalent) qualification
• Experience managing a portfolio of internal audit clients across public sector, not‑for‑profit or corporate environments
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport at all levels
• A collaborative, people‑focused mindset with a genuine interest in developing others
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work systematically to deadlines
• The ambition to progress, whether you’re already operating at Manager level or an Assistant Manager ready for the next step
• Willingness to travel when required
