Job Description

Alexander Daniels are recruiting for a Management Accountant on behalf of a fantastic manufacturing business based in Burton upon Trent on a 6-month fixed-term contract. Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering robust financial reporting, driving commercial decision-making, and providing valuable insight into manufacturing performance and costing processes.

The successful candidate will have strong manufacturing finance experience and a proven track record in product costing, variance analysis, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts with detailed variance analysis.
  • Production of weekly and monthly KPI reports for senior management.
  • Ownership and maintenance of standard costing models.
  • Detailed analysis of manufacturing variances including materials, labour and overheads.
  • Review and monitoring of stock valuations and inventory controls.
  • Business partnering with production and operational teams to improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning processes.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous improvement projects.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance of financial controls.
  • Support audit requests and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Provide financial insight and commentary to support decision-making.

Candidate Requirements

  • ACCA, CIMA or ACA Qualified, Part-Qualified or Qualified by Experience.
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, product costing and manufacturing finance.
  • Experience with stock accounting and inventory management.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confident working with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work closely with operational teams.
  • Available to commence employment at short notice or within a reasonable timeframe.
